Editor's note – January 2018

With this issue, Aircraft Cabin Management enters its sixth year of publication, having been launched at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg in 2012.

When we started, our unique proposal was that we could bring our strong technical background from sister publication MRO Management to really ‘get under the skin’ of aircraft cabins. We remain the only publication that has that capability. In this issue alone, there are reports from Abu Dhabi, where we visited the new testing laboratory that is a joint venture between Etihad Airways Engineering and Lantal Textiles, and Toulouse, where we were present at the handover of the first Airbus A380 with the new Singapore Airlines interior. We spoke to JPA Design about this cabin as well.

We have also successfully developed two events – the Cabin Repair & Refurbishment Conference and Aircraft Cabin Maintenance Conference – which, again, enable us to draw on our wide network of contacts to provide interesting and authoritative speakers on every aspect of aircraft interiors. Following on from our latest event, the Aircraft Cabin Maintenance Conference in November, we have articles based on presentations from Aero Technics, FliteTrak and Monarch Design Services, representing line maintenance, integrated cabin sensors and modification challenges respectively.

As ever with aviation, just as things seem set to calm down, and the latest generation aircraft enter service, new developments crop up, as evidenced by the rash of new cabin interior programmes. In addition to the two above, and Emirates, carriers unveiling new products in this issue include Lufthansa and flydubai.
